Actor Joo Won's popularity soared quickly through KBS2's recently concluded drama 'Good Doctor'. When asked about hopes on receiving this year's KBS Acting Award since there were much speculations within the industry, Joo Won expressed 'outrage', revealing his humble and unassuming character.
On the 15th of October, Joo Won held a mini press conference with reporters at at cafe in Seoul, Gangnam, nonhyeon-dong, taking this opportunity to express his gratitude for the viewers' love and support.
Joo Won mentioned, "At the fan-sign event that just took place, many fans at the site mimicked Shi On's (Joo Won's character in Good Doctor) way of speech and tone, using some of his most famous lines such as 'Cannot Cannot' and 'Hurry Hurry'. Compared to myself, I think that the drama itself received plenty of popularity."
Joo Won also expressed, "The plot of Good Doctor is really meaningful. My co-stars' personality are all very nice, the on-site atmosphere during our filming was great. My chemistry with my fellow actors and Director Ki Min Soo especially, was very compatible. During some tougher scenes, the director always gave me all sorts of suggestions, telling me to 'Do it like this..' and so forth. Our good communication created a very comfortable atmosphere to work in."
According to the viewership statistics company, AGB's calculations, Good Doctor's highest viewership ratings peaked at 21.5% (nationwide), and throughout the drama's broadcast period, it remained as the most-watched drama of it's time slot, beating out the likes of MBC's Goddess of Fire and SBS's Empire of Gold. The key secret behind the drama's success was credited to the director's and casts members' chemistry and compatibility.
The the 8th of this month, the last episode of Good Doctor aired, the character Park Shi On managed to overcome the prejudice against his autism and disability and achieved his ambition of becoming a surgeon in the pediatric department. He also gained love along the journey, concluding the drama on a happy note.
On the other hand, Joo Won will begin his public performances for his upcoming musical starting on the 24th of next month. He s currently working 12 hours a day, preparing diligently for his musical.
